Sunday Morning Confession: Portland State
3-0. That's all that really matters. Did it go how many thought it might? Perhaps? Here are my thoughts on last night:
1. They did their job. Sometimes it's fun to watch a nail-biting close game, and sometimes it's fun watching your team just crush another team, even if that team is from the FCS. The Broncos took care of business and beat Portland State like everyone thought they would. They even covered the spread which many thought they wouldn't. All-in-all they got the win and are 3-0.
2. Do we have a QB controversy? Chase Chord played quite a bit last night and threw 2TDs and ran for another. He looked comfortable and the offense looked good when he was out there. I still think Bachmeier is the future and has more upside, but it's nice to know that we have a "back up" QB that could still win a ball game.
3. High expectations. The defense shut out the opposing offense in the second half for the third straight week. That's pretty awesome. They are 1 of 3 FBS teams to do that! They have set the bar high and make great in-game adjustments. However, as the season goes I think they will need to come out stronger in the early part of the game just so the offense isn't always faced with playing from behind.
