Saturday Morning Confessions: Air Force
4-0. That's all that really matters. Did it go how many thought it might? Perhaps? Here are my thoughts on last night:
1. Punting Problems. I don't want to hate too much on the punter, because I'm not going praise the punter for a win so I'm not going to blame him either, but once again the punting game has had problems. Broncos punter Joel Velasquez has just averaged over 35 yards per punt which ranks him outside the top 100 in all of FBS. Football is a field position game and punting is designed to flip that field position, but right now the Broncos aren't flipping nothing.
2. Second half surge. Four straight wins, for straight come from behind victories. As of this morning, Boise State is one of three teams that have come from behind in every game this season. For the Broncos, the second half adjustments has been key. Last night was the same. The offense seemed to click better in the second half and once again the defense was amazing! If it were not for a garbage time touchdown the defense only allowed 3 points. Even with that touchdown they allowed 9 points. This defense has only allowed 9 second half points all season.
3. Confidence is contagious. Boise State hasn't started a season 4-0 since 2016. This team has everyone talking about the possibility of an undefeated season. Whether that is premature or not, this teams confidence is growing and they look like a team that knows they are going to win each and every week. Too bad this week is their bye week, because I want to watch them play again soon.
