Saturday Morning Confession: Marshall
2-0. All that matters is that the Broncos won the game. Did it go how many though? Probably not, but they won and that's all that matters. However here are my thoughts on last night:
1. The defense is really good. Two weeks in a row the Bronco defense shut out the opposing offense in the second half. They force turn overs, they rally to the ball, and they get after the quarterback. In a game like last night's, where the offense was having a hard time scoring, having a defense that will carry the team will prove to be a great asset.
2. The offense will get better. With a freshman quarterback, even if his name is Hank Bachmeier, the offense is bound to come along a little slower. The offense played well last night, but did leave points on the field. I trust that as the season goes along the offense will get better and more consistent. As Aaron Rodgers said, "Just Relax."
3. Offensive line has to get better. Sacks aren't the only sign of a bad offensive line. Last week Bachmeier was hit on 28 of his 50 drop backs. Last night he was hit time and time again. If the Broncos want to be special this year, they have to keep their field general up right. I know they have to shuffle some pieces with the injury to John Ojukwu, but that unit will need to improve as the season goes along.
